HAVtech 2023: Navigating the Future of Maritime Innovation

As the sun set over Bergen, maritime professionals and tech enthusiasts converged aboard the Havila Pollux for HAVtech 2023.

This year's event, co-organized by Maritime Bergen and Norwegian Electric Systems, has once again confirmed its place as the beacon of maritime technological advancements.

Ten speakers joined our event to explore the tangible strides made in green maritime technology, reflecting on lessons from the Havila Kystruten project and visualizing a future where we collectively achieve a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

And what better way to delve into innovation than with a firsthand look at a ship packed with state-of-the-art solutions? And even better, as we are the system integrator of the vessel, the Havila Pollux is full of NES expertise and technology from bridge to propeller. The air buzzed with anticipation as our guests prepared to go on a tour behind the curtains of Havila Pollux.

The tour's main attraction for many guests was the top modern bridge solution, equipped with the Raven INS. Tore Havsø, developer of the Raven INS, proudly showed how the system works as the participants engagingly asked questions.Tore Havsø viser frem Raven INS A few decks below, Rune Holmedal talked us through the battery room, and Harry Evensen and Freddy Agledal gave us a walkthrough of the main switchboards. Breaking down our smart automation systems, Vidar Larsen showed how the control room's many systems interact and the level of detail which the sensors work.

What is HAVtech?

To the uninitiated, HAVtech might sound like another industry buzzword, but it holds the essence of the event within its name. "HAV", Norwegian for "ocean", signifies the vast and profound maritime world. When merged with "tech", it symbolizes the seamless integration of technology into maritime practices. The collaboration between Maritime Bergen, a foundation dedicated to amplifying the ocean's businesses, and Norwegian Electric Systems, pioneers in electrical solutions for ships, has given HAVtech its unique positioning.
